    Workshop on Mine Action Terminologies and Definitions in Arabic

    Ross Mountain visits Syrian Refugees in the Bekaa & Akkar

    Acknowledgments to the eight private sector companies for reporting their Greenhouse Gas Emissions

    The Lebanese Ministry of Environment in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme held an award ceremony on Thursday December 19, 2013 for eight Lebanese private institutions that have successfully audited, reported and communicated their respective Greenhouse Gas emissions. This reporting comes as response to the Minister of Environment’s Decision 99/1, dated 11/4/2013, where companies used the internationally adopted Greenhouse Gas Protocol through V4 advisors to report their emissions of the year 2012.

    Outcomes and achievements related to mine action work in Lebanon

    Lebanon Mine Action Center in collaboration with the European Union and the United Nations Development Program held a meeting today concerning “the international support group for Lebanon”.     Third Anniversary of the Entry into Force of the Convention on Cluster Munitions

    Lebanon remains littered with hundreds of thousands of unexploded ordinance, including cluster munitions. These items continue to kill and maim people in Lebanon and hinder development and reconstruction efforts. In 2006 alone, 215 cluster sub-munitions casualties were registered, the majority of victims are under the age of 18 and approximately 36 percent of the land used for livelihood activities was contaminated.
