UNDP-ART GOLD South Lebanon in partnership with “Les Amis du Liban à Monaco” will inaugurate the newly equipped and rehabilitated theatre at the Bint Jbeil elementary mixed public school. This falls under the ART GOLD project entitled "Upgrading the educational services and extra-curricular activities at the public schools of Bint Jbeil and Blat in South Lebanon".
The inauguration will take place at the Bint Jbeil elementary mixed public school in the presence of Mr. Francesco Bicciato, UNDP-ART GOLD Lebanon Chief Technical Advisor, Mrs. Bouran Bouery, President of the Association “Les Amis du Liban à Monaco”, Ms. Amal Karaki from the Council of Development and Reconstruction (CDR), Mrs. Nashaat Habhab, Head of the Educational Area in the Nabatieh Caza, Mrs. Fatema Anani, Director of the Bint Jbeil Elementary Mixed public school, in addition to the teachers and students.
“Upgrading the educational services and extra-curricular activities at the public schools of Bint Jbeil and Blat in South Lebanon" has helped improve the quality of the educational services in the two schools that were severely affected by the July 2006 war. This has been attained through providing scientific and artistic laboratories; didactical activities; etc.., establishing extracurricular activities such as theater courses, equipment for sport, music, etc, and improving the teachers’ skills by training them on new ways of teaching practices.
More than 200 students are directly benefiting from this project. After the construction of the theatre hall was completed, a “music and theatre instructor” has been assigned and is engaging students in drawing, singing and theatre works. As such, in addition to the official statements the inauguration will feature traditional dance and song performances, and a short play by students.
