Lebanon’s Low Emission Capacity Building Project Participates in a UNFCCC side event in Bonn

The Low Emission Capacity Building Project participated in a side event on the margins of the 38th SB session in Bonn, Germany entitled “Inspiring Mitigation Ambition: Experience from the LECB Programme” hosted by the programme’s Global Support Unit. The side event was held 11 June 2013 and featured presentations from three of the participating LECB countries, Lebanon, Mexico and Uganda, as well as brief remarks from representatives of the European Commission, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), and the Government of Australia.  

Lebanon’s presentation, delivered by the Project Manager, Mr. Vahakn Kabakian, covered the topic of the governance structure in Lebanon, including the establishment of the National Council for the Environment, and the appointment of the Ministry of Environment as the national coordinator of NAMAs.  

The side event was attended by over 45 individuals which resulted in a lively but brief Q & A session.
