“Nearly 90% of the Lebanese population resides in cities across the country, with 0.8 square meter per person of green spaces available. The world health organization, however, recommends a minimum of 9 square meter of green space per person, and it is acknowledged that a city at an ideal standard would have between 10 – 15m² of green space per person. Green spaces have positive effect on people; they provide a great way to escape the stresses of day-to-day life, constitute a buffer to the surrounding noises and pollution, and increase value of real estate in surrounding areas

Announcement of the long-term Cooperation between UNDP, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Industry
The Ministry of Environment is organizing a press conference to announce the partnership between the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Industry and the UNDP to launch a long-term cooperation between the 3 entities on updating the database and private industrial enterprises. Building resilience to save the future UN agencies to scale-up their “development response” to the Syria crisis
At the end of UN Agencies meetings over two days, Regional Directors and Representatives of 22 agencies of the United Nations agreed to launch a collective “development response” to the Syria crisis to complement ongoing humanitarian efforts centered around providing life-saving relief to displaced Syrians, inside Syria and in neighboring countries.

Minister of Environment and the UNDP distributed Green Awards for pioneers in the adoption of environmentally-friendly initiatives
The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and Beyond magazine, held for the first time in Lebanon, a National Green Awards Ceremony at a dinner at the Phoenicia Hotel.
