The UNDP “Hydro Agriculture Development Project of Marjeyoun Area”
and the Litani River Authority are organizing the final stakeholder’s
meeting titled “Achievements and Recommendations” on Monday February
18th, 2013 from 9:30 am till 1:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Dunes
Center – Verdun.
H.E. Mr. Milagros Hernando Ambassador of Spain will attend the ceremony alongside UNDP’s Country Director Mr. Luca Renda, chairman of board of the Litani River Authority Dr. Salim Catafago and the president of the association of the friends of Ibrahim Abdel el Al, Mr. Nasser Nassrallah.
The Project manager of “Hydro Agricultural Development Project of Marjeyoun”, Mr. Marwan Rizkallah will be presenting the project’s achievements in designing the hydro-agricultural plans and rehabilitating the land in the Marjeyoun North Perimeter.
This initiative has been implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in coordination with the Litani River Authority, the Association of the Friends of Ibrahim Abd El Al and the local municipalities and farmers and funded by the Government of Spain through the Lebanon Recovery Fund.
The project covers an area of approximately 522 hectares in the “Marjeyoun” North Perimeter, and specifically targets the towns of “Burghos”, “Blat”, “Dibbine”, “Ibl Essaki”, and “Jdaydit Marjeyoun”. More than 1,259 farmers have benefited from the project activities.
