UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Field Visit to AkkarFeb 11, 2014
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is organizing a field visit to Akkar, North Lebanon for the newly appointed Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, Mr. Ross Mountain. Mr. Mountain will be accompanied by representatives from the humanitarian community and will be visiting the tented settlements for Syrian refugees and monitoring the ongoing humanitarian and development efforts, including in Wadi Khaled.
In response to the Syrian crisis and the increasing influx of Syrian refugees to Lebanon, the UN supports Syrian refugees’ and Lebanese hosting communities who have been affected from the social and economic impacts of the Syrian conflict on Lebanon.
Mr. Ross Mountain, was recently appointed as the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lebanon.
Location: At the Tented Settlements in Bebnine – North Lebanon (meeting with media representatives)
Directions: From Abdeh roundabout, proceed on the road to Halba. The first right after Abdeh roundabout is for the village of Bebnine. Careful, because the distance between the roundabout and the road to Bebnine is very short, less than 1 km. After two (2) km on this road to Bebnine, turn right again. Proceed on this road for five minutes and you will find the ITS.
